Beauty and the Beast SUMMER 2018
WHEN, WHERE, WHO:
AND THE BEAST will play JULY 20th through the 29th,
2018 in the Fred Kavli Theatre at the Bank of America Performing Arts Center,
Thousand Oaks Civic Arts Plaza, and will be directed by Yvette Lawrence, with
choreography by Cheryl Baxter, the duo who brought you 5-Star’s Peter Pan the
musical. Dan Redfeld will music direct, and will conduct the 5-Star Theatricals
begin June 23rd, 2018 for non-Equity performers (Including children's chorus), and June 25th, 2018 for Equity performers.
All roles are open, and roles are also open to Non-Equity talent. There is pay for all roles 18 and up. Adult roles limited to age 16 and above.
At least 3-4 A.E.A contracts available for the roles of: “Belle”, “Beast”, “Gaston”, “Lumiere”, “Cogsworth”, "Le Fou" etc.(LOA pending)

HEADSHOT, RESUME, and SHEET MUSIC IN THE PROPER KEY- accompanist provided; No recorded music or a capella, please. Prepare classical or contemporary musical theatre selection in the style of the show or from the show (Menken, Lloyd Webber, Boublil & Schonerg, Rodgers & Hammerstein etc.) Looking for character/range. Understudies to be cast from chorus. No rock musical styles please. Non-union please limit song to one minute. For dance calls, bring all dance shoes.

[Belle] Female, Age 20-29 to play 18, classically beautiful face, her eyes shine with intelligence, seems entirely unaware of her looks, strong-willed, adventurous, and noble, a true heroine, sensitive and smart, should move very well, vocal range: lyrical pop theatre voice with a very strong and clear belt. E3 to F5.

[Beast] Male, Age 25-39. 6'0" or taller; a tortured soul trapped in the body of the Beast, angry, volatile, and hopeless, when he meets Belle, she awakens his warm, loving human side and is able to overcome his bestial nature to break the spell, should be handsome and well-built. An exceptional actor and singer. vocal range: baritone. A2 to F4

[Maurice] Male, Age 45-59. Belle's father, eccentric inventor, comic, warm, sincere, and immensely lovable, devoted to his daughter; no taller than 5’9”.
[Gaston] Male, Age 20-39. Must be 6'0" or taller, very handsome muscular build, sexy with a chiseled face, capable of playing a larger-than-life, rude, self-centered bully, egomanical, narcissistic, charming yet manipulative villain, should move very well and have strong comic timing. vocal range: big Broadway legit baritone. A2 to F4
[Le Fou] Male, Age 20-39. No taller than 5'8", Gaston's adoring hanger-on buddy, a true fall guy, buffoon, must be able to handle physical comedy and move well, seeking an accomplished stage comedian/stage clown/ song and dance man. vocal range: B2 to G4
[Mrs. Potts] Female, Age 40-50. To play a plump sweet-faced English teapot, kind-hearted maternal cook, sings the title song, vocal range: lyrical alto down with a convincing English accent. F#3 to G5
[Lumiere] Male, Age 30-45. A candelabra, very charming, very suave, very French, maitre D' who fancies himself as a ladies' man, passionate, must have a credible French accent, must move very well. vocal range: F#2 to G4
[Babette] Female, Age 20-35. Beautiful feather duster, continually teases Lumiere, must dance, not too bright, voluptuous, tall with a show-girl body, French accent required, vocal range: Broadway belt with a legit soprano. C4 to C6
[Wardrobe] Female, Age 40-55. Warm, friendly, comedic, vain old girl, very theatrical opera diva and old broad. vocal range: legit operatic mezzo to B3 to G5
[Chip] Male, Age 8-10. To play an adorable, inquisitive, eight-year-old teacup, 51" maximum, weight: 68 lbs., must sing. A3 to F#5
[Monsieur D'arque] Male, Age 40-50. The scheming proprietor of the local insane asylum. He is a dark, sinister villain who aides Gaston in his plot to marry Belle, must sing, with top tenor. D3 to A4
[ENSEMBLE] (three silly girls, townspeople, enchanted objects, wolves) Males & Females, Age 18+. Strong dancers with ballet and jazz technique who can sing and singers who can move well. Tumblers needed.
