THE HUNCHBACK of NOTRE DAME 2018
Join 5 STAR THEATRICALS this spring for the show based on the Walt Disney Animation Studios film of the same name, featuring popular songs such as “God help the Outcasts” and “Out There”. For the first time ever on the Civic Arts Plaza stage, Victor Hugo’s classic novel comes to life with the dramatic spectacle and songs that soar with music by Alan Menken and lyrics by Stephen Schwartz.

WHEN, WHERE, WHO:
HUNCHBACK will play APRIL 20th through the 29th, 2018 in the Fred Kavli Theatre at the Bank of America Performing Arts Center, Thousand Oaks Civic Arts Plaza, and will be directed by Misti Wills, with choreography by Michelle Elkin, the duo who brought you SISTER ACT the musical. Dan Redfeld will music direct, and will conduct the 5-Star Theatricals Orchestra.
Rehearsals will begin March 19th, 2018 for non-Equity performers, and March 26th, 2018 for Equity performers.
Role of Quasimodo has been cast. Seeking Non-Equity Understudy.
All other roles are open, and roles are also open to Non-Equity talent.
There is pay for all roles 18 and up. Adult roles limited to age 16 and above.
At least 3 A.E.A contracts available for the roles of:
“Dom Claude Frollo”, “Esmeralda”, “Phoebus”, “Clopin” etc. (LOA pending)

[Dom Claude Frollo] Male, Age 50-60 Archdeacon of Notre Dame, a pious and self-righteous man who begrudgingly raises Quasimodo for his brother after he dies. He is torn between the self-denial required by his religious belief and his strong sexual lust for Esmeralda. Baritone with a rich lower register. (Vocal Range F2 to E4)
[Jehan Frollo] Male, Age 40-50’s. Claude’s wild and reckless younger brother who rebels against the church rules. He dies shortly after having a child with Florika. (Vocal Range G#2 - D4)
[Florika] Female, Age 20’s. A flirtatious, seductive, and beautiful gypsy who dies from small pox. (Vocal Range C#4 - F#5)
[Father Dupin] Male, Age 50-60’s. A priest of Notre Dame and guardian of Claude and Jehan. (Vocal Range C3 to A4)
[Qausimodo] Male, Age 20’s-30’s. A deformed and reclusive bell ringer who longs to see the outside world but is staunchly loyal to his master, Frollo. He possesses great vulnerability, but also holds a deep well of pain and rage. Must be dexterous and flexible; strong tenor. (Vocal Range Bb 2 to Eb5) Note: Role is cast. Seeking Non-AEA understudy.
[Esmeralda] Female, Age 20’s-30’s. Exquisitely beautiful, wildly exotic and a deeply sensual dancing gypsy who sees the good in people. Rebellious, untamed and not afraid to speak her mind and stand up for what she believes in; mezzo. (Vocal Range Eb3 to Eb5)
[Clopin Trouillefou] Male, Age 30-50. Charismatic, clever, mysterious. A magical showman. The King of the Gypsies and a Master of Ceremonies; high tenor. (Vocal Range C3 to Bb4)
[Phoebus De Martin] Male, Age 30’s. Charming, confident, dashing and a girl magnet. Captain of the Cathedral Guard; tenor. (Vocal Range C3 to G4)
[Frederic Charlus] Male, Age 30’s. Stiff, dutiful but loyal to Phoebus. Lieutenant of the Cathedral Guard
[King Louis XI] Male, Age 40-60. King of France, nicknamed the Prudent. Believes in astrology.
[Official] Male, Age 30’s. An officer of the court of King Louis XI
[Madame] Female, Age 50’s. Brothel owner. Bold, flirtatious, sassy.
[Saint Aphrodisius] Male Age 50-60’s. An Egyptian martyr, said to have sheltered the holy family when they came to Egypt, and a statue that comes to life. Strong and protective. (Vocal Range B2-F#4)
